Career planning often gets pushed aside for “when things settle down.”

The problem is, things rarely do.

Work gets busy. Life fills up. And weeks or months pass without any real progress.

Not because you don’t care, but because you’re waiting for the right moment to start.

In reality, careers don’t change because of one big decision.

They change through small actions you follow through on consistently.

  • Updating your resume.
  • Learning a new skill.
  • Reaching out to someone in a role you’re curious about.

On their own, these don’t feel significant.

But over time, they build momentum; and momentum is what drives change.

I see this often in coaching: the people who make progress aren’t the ones with the perfect plan.

They’re the ones who start before everything feels “ready.”

You don’t need a complete reset.

You need intention, and a willingness to take the next step.

So instead of waiting for more time, or more clarity, try this:

  • What’s one thing you can do this week that moves you forward?

Start there.
